LiquiSonic®

LiquiSonic® Systems in Chemical and Petrochemical Industry

Introduction:

The sonic velocity analyzer LiquiSonic® has a high variety of applications in the chemical and petrochemical industry. An optimal and safe process requires immediate information by robust and fast process analyzers. The use of LiquiSonic® measuring devices with their easy implementation in existing plant installations enable substantially improvements in process safety and product yield.

Some application examples:

Unbeatable utilization rates

The chemical industry sets high demands on housing, electronics and sensor technology. SensoTech application specialists fit the systems into requirements, because all components can be adapted to the existing process conditions. Difficult profitability, quality control, and regulatory factors in the chemical industry make inline monitoring more important than ever. LiquiSonic® monitors and controls liquids in lines, reactors, filters, scrubbers, heat exchangers, waste lines, basins and almost anywhere liquids flow. Where accuracy is critical, or where high pressure, high temperatures or sensitive processing environments make sampling impractical or impossible, SensoTech analyzers are ideal for monitoring inline processes. LiquiSonic® sensors are engineered for tough industrial processes, including Class I Division 1 Hazardous Area installations.

A rugged housing is crucial for protection and high mechanical stability. Depending on the sensor type SensoTech housings are able to withstand temperatures up to 200 °C or 392 °F, rated pressures up to 500 bar or 7,250 psi, and are resistant to lyes, acids and solvents. The fundamentals for this are the high-grade materials used such as stainless steel, PTFE and PFA, alloy steels or tantalum. The sensor design consists of one homogenous body and requires no gaskets.

Well connected

Sensors may be equipped with all common process adapters and fittings and can be used under the most complex application conditions. By changing immersion lengths or the process adapters, SensoTech sensors fit into tanks and vessels of almost every design, as well as directly in every size tube. A suitable entry point into the process also results from incorporation of the LiquiSonic® sensor into the bottom outlet valve of the company SchuF. So measuring directly in the vessel without additional process connection is possible. This innovative and cost-efficient combination of sensor and valve is an ideal solution for process analytical applications in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industry.

Because the LiquiSonic® measuring technology is not dependent on color, turbidity or other optical attributes, the user will have no limitations, even under the most difficult application conditions.

Products and process may change

LiquiSonic® systems can easily be adapted to accommodate various modified process conditions. The Controller software manages up to 256 various product characteristics. Depending on the user access rights, these characteristics may be activated after the sensor replacement or when process conditions change.

This concept ensures the return of the investment, and decreases the response time on changing boundary conditions. For new applications, a completely new calculation model can be created by using process reference values.

Individual interfaces

SensoTech is able to offer all current and emerging standards of signal processing. For continuous concentration and density measurement, 4-20 mA in 2-wire loop power, or 4-wire technology, Profibus PA or Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus and Ethernet are available. For alarm level detection and switching, a non-contact output or a digital output can be configured. SensoTech analyzers can always match installation needs.
